How our Siding Projects Work
Soffit and Fascia
Soffit and Fascia are not often discussed, but are a very important part of your House Siding System.
Soffits
Soffits provide the air intake needed for proper air flow in attics, and for controlled temperatures indoors. Soffits are typically used as the exposed under-surface of the roof overhang above exterior siding. It’s the ventilation support you need to protect your home from extreme temperatures and moisture.
Cool, dry air is drawn into the soffit vent, and hot moist air is forced out of roof exhaust vents. Soffits also protect your roof from insects, birds, and other pests that might try to enter your warm, dry attic during cooler months. Soffit is typically aluminum.
Fascia
Fascia is the attractive trim board between the roof and the soffit. Your gutter is mounted on top of the fascia board. The fascia supports the shingles and helps to keep moisture out of your roof and attic. Older fascia is normally wood, but more modern installations are done in PVC or aluminum to make them last longer and protect from water intrusion.
